Smart Man Cave Series - The Tour
A Man Cave is a room to express one's personality in an unique way. You can look at hundreds of different rooms and no man cave will be identical. My personality is different. When I was younger, I was a nerdy athlete but it wasn’t cool to be an athlete that was a nerd. Nowadays, things have changed and there are so many athletes that love “nerd” things. I’m no longer afraid to be myself and express my true personality. During this process of creating my room that matches who I am, there will be a mixture of both worlds. That’s the beauty of my Man Cave.

I love electronics, video games and toys. My room will evolve around those things. I want this room to be a smart room with automated features with the click of a single button. I also want to display my collection of funko pops and transformers. I want to incorporate some of my wood building skills into this room by creating a unique wall design behind the tv with built in shelves to display my toys. I want this room to make me smile every single time I walk into it. There’s also a corner in the room devoted to Duke Blue Devils basketball memorabilia and their championships.
During this series, I’ll be creating a video with a walkthrough of everything I add. This is something I plan to do without hiring any “professional” people to complete this process. I’ll display the process and show that these are in fact DIY projects and you can do it yourself. I already have a Samsung TV with 4k at 60 Hz with a Playstation 5 (Yes, the 120 Hz would have been better but this will do for now) and a Matte Black Smart Fan. I built the floating entertainment center from a sheet of plywood with some custom made doors. I took some leftover scraps and made a herringbone coffee table.
I’m so excited about this process and I have so many plans for this room. I want to add a smart light switch, some smart blinds and the list goes on and on. It all begins with an idea to bring this idea to reality is going to be a lot of fun. Follow along during this process of creating my dream Man Cave.
